Bailey was approximately 12 years old when he was found starved to a body score of .5.  He was impounded by Habersham County Animal Control, and S.O.S. made a valiant effort to save him by having him thoroughly vetted, including a complete blood panel and administration of ulcer medications.  Bailey was carefully fed several small meals of mash and chopped hay, gradually increasing the amount as he showed progress.  Unfortunately, after 12 days, he succumbed to organ failure.  A University of Georgia (UGA) necropsy showed death due to the ravages of starvation.  The case against his owner, who claimed he had the right to starve his own horse, is still pending as of this date 1/27/17.
